Villa Mairea

Rethinking Villa Mairea by Alvar Aalto Architect (1898-1976). The villa is a country house built 1937-40 for Harry and Maire Gullichsen. They asked him to consider the house as an "experimental house." The sketch is an excellent example of Aalto's mastery in organic architecture and his ability to combine functionality with a deep connection to nature and a unique aesthetic. The numerous curves and emphasis on fluid transitions are characteristic of his work and make this sketch unmistakable. TOWNSET GmbH 12/2025
